Total gem! I found the Lauberhorn by a very happy accident. Loved it so much that my "last-minute, just for tonight" booking turned into 3 nights. Cozy and modern, it's like a boutique-style inn. I took the smallest room available — which somehow fit a large bed, desk/table, two chairs, bench, ample shelving, + bathroom facilities — and still felt spacious. And wow: the view was spectacular. RIGHT FROM THE BED. Room and common areas were beautiful and cozy, breakfast is super-satisfying (large array of breads, cereals, yogurts, hot and cold drinks, fruits, meats, cheeses, produce — and Conny's homemade Müsli is out of this world!), and everyone — owners, cleaning staff, and breakfast attendants — is so friendly. Furthermore, their advice on where to eat, hike, etc. is invaluable. There are also free conveniences, such as tea at certain hours, a microwave and a kettle in common areas, a small library, walking sticks, etc. Plus, every inch of the hotel is spotless. As for location, it's about a 25-min. walk from the train station, and largely uphill after downtown. BUT the bus stops often, right in front of the hotel parking lot. Also, being outside of downtown means unobstructed mountain views. And the hotel is a few short minutes from downtown anyway. Unbeatable location. I would recommend this place 1000 times. Bright; lovely; cozy; STUNNING scenery; great breakfast; and wonderfully friendly people. One of my favorite hotels ever. I already dream of coming back.
